Commenting on investigations at Morriston Hospital into the possibility of further patients acquiring Hepatitis B, Darren Millar AM, Shadow Minister for Health and Social Services, said:
“It is critical that the source of contamination is identified as quickly as possible so any threats to sterile operating conditions can be eliminated so surgery can resume.
“Local Health Boards across Wales now need to work closely with staff in Abertawe Bro Morgannwg to learn from mistakes at Morriston and share best practice to reduce risks to patients.
“LHBs need to take measures to reassure patients that cleanliness is their top priority and that all necessary precautions are being taken to guarantee patient safety.”
