Darren Millar, Assembly Member for Clwyd West, has welcomed news that there will be extra time to consider proposals for health services across North Wales.
Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board’s proposals for maternity, neonatal, paediatric and emergency general surgery services were originally intend to be published in November, but following representations from Darren Millar, the consultation period will now be extended into the New Year.
When asked to comment Darren said: ‘I am pleased the Health Board have listened to my concerns and have agreed to extend the period of consultation.
‘However this doesn’t take away the risk that maternity, neonatal, paediatric and emergency general surgery services at Glan Clwyd could be downgraded or withdrawn, putting lives at risk.
‘I’d encourage the public, clinicians and nursing staff to take advantage of this extra time to make their views on these proposals loud and clear to the Health Board.
‘My constituents should have access to local health services of the highest quality and I will be doing everything I can to ensure this remains the case.’
