Commenting on an apology from Cardiff & Vale University Health Board, following the accidental destruction of sperm samples at IVF Wales, Shadow Minister for Health Darren Millar AM, said:
“This is another incredibly serious incident at the unit in question and it requires urgent answers, both from the Health Board and the Minister.
“It is deplorable that the full extent of this dreadful mistake is only now coming to light. The impact on families will be enormous and it is only right that those affected are spoken to as soon as possible.
“It is clear that this clinic is experiencing severe problems – at a time when the Health Board has already highlighted ‘grave concerns’ over its funding.
“The Minister cannot ignore what is fast-becoming a crisis. Labour’s cuts to the NHS budget must be reversed and this awful blunder should not be swept under the carpet.”
