Commenting on a report by the Commons Health Select Committee, which criticises the Welsh Government’s policy of replacing PIP breast implants for free, Darren Millar AM, Shadow Minister for Health, said:
“The cross party select committee has recognised the need for the Welsh Government to rethink its policy on this issue.
“The Welsh Government’s decision to replace PIP implants for free has given private clinics a get out of jail free card.
“Labour Ministers have written a blank cheque, having absolutely no idea how much this commitment will cost, at a time when the NHS is reeling from Labour’s £534million cuts.
“Private clinics have a duty of care to their patients and taxpayers should not have to foot the bill for treatment except on sound medical advice.”
