Shadow Health Minister Darren Millar has called for urgent action to address wheelchair waiting times in North Wales.
The Clwyd West AM challenged the Welsh Government to take urgent action to reduce waiting times in the region, which currently stand at 52 weeks for adults waiting for assessments, compared to just 17 weeks in South Wales.
Speaking after an exchange in the Senedd, Darren Millar said:
‘Such a stark difference in waiting times between North and South Wales is totally unacceptable.
‘The Welsh Government’s complacency towards this problem deepens the North-South divide and shows utter contempt to service users in North Wales.
‘Long waits for essential equipment can have a devastating impact on wheelchair users and their families.
‘The Minister must bring this postcode lottery to an end.’
Wheelchair services are currently the subject of an Assembly inquiry.
