Commenting on yesterday’s publication of a White Paper setting out the details of a proposed system of presumed consent for organ donation, Shadow Minister for Health Darren Millar AM, said:
“This remains an incredibly sensitive issue and it is only right that as many people as possible have a say.
“All the evidence collected – medical and non-medical alike – will need to be carefully considered before the next steps are taken.
“Given the serious issues of conscience and the complex legal questions surrounding the proposals, sufficient time must be allowed for both a detailed scrutiny of the implications and a thorough examination of how the opt-out scheme could work.
“As has always been the case, this will be a free vote for Welsh Conservative AMs”.
