Conwy County Borough Council’s move to take over ownership of Colwyn Bay’s Pier has today been welcomed by the local Assembly Member.
In a Cabinet meeting this week, Conwy County Borough Council voted to bid for full ownership of the Pier. The Cabinet will now seek endorsement from the full Council before proceeding with negotiations.
Commenting on the development, Clwyd West Assembly Member Darren Millar said:
‘This is a welcome step in the right direction. Many of my constituents want to see the Pier restored to its former glory. For too long it has been an eyesore which has blighted the waterfront in Colwyn Bay.
‘I have urged the Minister responsible in the Welsh Government to support the Council in its endeavours and to explore channels of funding which might be available to support the restoration of the Pier.’
