Responding to a policy statement from Plaid Cymru declaring the Party’s “opposition to ALL nuclear power”, Darren Millar AM, Shadow Minister for the Economy, said:
“I am surprised that Plaid Cymru’s leader and Anglesey AM would actively campaign for what would be a massive blow to his Anglesey constituents and have a negative impact on the economy of North Wales.
“By ruling out all future nuclear power in North Wales, Plaid is risking thousands of current and future jobs at Wylfa.
“These job losses would threaten the fragile recovery of the economy of North Wales.
“I am appalled that Plaid would seek to use the disaster in Japan for political advantage. The country lies on a major tectonic plate faultline and is a victim of one of the most devastating earthquakes the world has ever seen.
“To imply that Wylfa could pose a similar risk to people in North Wales is a disgrace.”
