Commenting on the Welsh Labour Government’s statement on medium term planning in the Welsh NHS and encouraging health boards to move to three year financial planning, Darren Millar AM, Shadow Health Minister, said:
“We welcome longer-term planning in the Welsh NHS, but this must be matched by sufficient financial resources to deliver top-notch patient care and bring an end to the annual spectacle of local health board bailouts.
“Health boards have been struggling to cope year after year with Labour’s legacy of record-breaking NHS cuts, which have constrained capacity, seen beds axed and hospitals close.
“Labour Ministers must match longer-term financial planning with a reversal of their programme of cuts to help health boards make ends meet.”
