Millar: Rail strike “disruptive” & “unfair”

Commenting on the RMT’s announcement of a train drivers’ strike on Friday February 4th, on the day of Wales’ opening Six Nations match against England, Shadow Minister for Transport Darren Millar AM said:

“The RMT Union should not take its grievances out on passengers, nor should it be a killjoy for a major sporting event.

“This strike has been scheduled to cause maximum disruption to thousands of people and that is completely unacceptable.

“Many of those heading into Cardiff that day will be angered to hear that this is due to go ahead, despite the offer of a considerable 12 per cent pay rise which most people would consider to be more than fair given the current economic climate.

“This is unfair to passengers and I urge the RMT Union to seriously rethink this course of action.”
