Residents in Abergele are celebrating after the local Council agreed to improve road safety at a dangerous junction.
Cars have been using the bus layby on Abergele Road between Abergele and Llanddulas to park their cars, making it difficult for residents to exit from a lane opposite onto the busy road. Following a campaign by Clwyd West AM Darren Millar, Conwy County Borough Council agreed to improve the safety of the junction by installing road markings to deter cars from parking there.
When asked to comment Darren Millar said:
‘This road safety improvement has been a long time coming but I’m pleased we have finally been able to improve safety for residents pulling onto Abergele Road – this was an accident waiting to happen.
‘Cars have been parking in the bus layby opposite the lane which leads to a number of houses. This made it difficult for cars to exit the lane and pull out onto a road with traffic often approaching at 60 mph.
‘I’m delighted our campaign has been successful.’
