Commenting on the publication of the Welsh Government’s report of the Eligibility Technical Group, which has made recommendations on models of eligibility for social care needs, Darren Millar AM, Shadow Minister for Health and Social Services, said:
“We welcome publication of this report into how eligibility criteria for social care services are set and implemented by local authorities.
“It is right that social care should be person centred and every effort should be given to include service users and when appropriate, their families, in discussions and decisions about their care and general wellbeing.
“It is vital that social services departments properly and consistently assess those who may be in need of care and support and I’ll be looking for further detail on this in the coming weeks.
“This report is a step in the right direction in ensuring that more of society’s most vulnerable people are able to access the support they need.”
