Commenting on today’s news that council tax bills in Wales will rise by an average of more than twice that in England, Shadow Local Government Minister Darren Millar AM said:
“Thanks to this corner cutting Labour-Plaid Cymru coalition council tax bills in Wales will rise by more than twice the amount of that in England.
“The historically low financial settlement imposed on councils by the Assembly Government is forcing hard working householders and pensioners to make up the shortfall in town hall coffers.
“This will inevitably mean councils will be forced to make cuts in frontline services, putting schools, libraries, leisure centres and weekly bin collections at risk.”
