Economy Minister Edwina Hart visits Farnborough International Airshow this week to promote Welsh expertise in the aerospace sector and will host a networking event for Wales based businesses, their key contacts and potential investors.
The Welsh Government, in partnership with Aerospace Wales Forum, is co-ordinating the Wales stand at Farnborough – one of the world’s largest aerospace events – and exhibiting alongside companies and organisations from Wales.
The Minister said: “Farnborough provides a great opportunity to showcase what Wales and Welsh companies have to offer. Aerospace is one of our key sectors where we have considerable strengths in manufacturing and maintenance, repair and overhaul.
“There are more than 160 companies, employing around 23,000 people, in the sector in Wales, ranging from global giants like Airbus, GE and BA to a large number of very clever SMEs. We will be promoting Welsh expertise in the sector and supporting Welsh businesses.
“The networking event will be open to exhibitors on the Welsh Government stand, their key contacts, other Wales based companies exhibiting in their own right as well as potential investors.
“We will be highlighting the benefits and business opportunities available at the St Athan-Cardiff Airport Enterprise Zone while our over riding message is that Wales is a great location for companies wishing to grow their business.”
Farnborough International Airshow runs from 14-20 July and the Minister is visiting on Tuesday 15 July, one of the trade days, when she will meet representatives from the eight companies exhibiting on the Wales stand who have considerable diverse expertise across the sector.
