Pensioner William John Williams has been found in Newport almost a week after going missing.
The 70-year-old from the Rhondda was discovered at around 5.50pm in wooded area near Church Crescent, Coed Kernew, by a Gwent Police dog searching unit.
Mr Williams was taken by ambulance to the Royal Gwent Hospital where his condition was initially described as poorly but is now stable and non life-threatening. His family has been informed.
Superintendent Simon Clarke, deputy divisional commander for Merthyr Tydfil and Rhondda Cynon Taff Police, said: “We have had a team of dedicated officers working on this investigation and we are all thrilled that we have been able to reunite him with his family.
“We would not have found Mr Williams if it had not been for the assistance of the media and public, and the significant efforts of Gwent Police.
“I wish to thank all those members of the public who contacted us with invaluable information and led us to find Mr Williams.”
Mr Williams had not been seen by family or friends since leaving his home in Penygraig, at 1pm on Friday, June 25.
