Moelfre RNLI assist broken down yacht on round Britain trip

Moelfre RNLI all-weather lifeboat crew launched twice yesterday after two boats got into difficulties off the Anglesey coast.

The volunteer lifeboat crew were first called out at 7:30am to a broken down yacht with a damaged rudder. The vessel, with two persons on board, had set off from the Isle of Man on a round Britain trip when they got into difficulties two miles off Point Lynas. The RNLI all-weather lifeboat crew towed the yacht back to safety at Amlwch Port.

The all-weather lifeboat crew were called on service again at around 6:30pm to help a grey inflatable that was having engine problems off Porth Wen, near Cemaes. A near-by kayaker had also tried to assist the person in the inflatable boat.

The RNLI lifeboat was launched and stood down before arrival after the occupant of the dinghy managed to get ashore safely.
