Monmouthshire’s residents are to be offered an opportunity to improve their computer skills thanks to an initiative promoted by a group of public sector bodies.
The Monmouthshire Financial Inclusion Partnership – comprising council teams, local housing associations and the Citizen’s Advice Bureau – and the Department of Works and Pensions will launch “Get Monmouthshire On-line”, and a key aim is to help residents manage the government’s welfare reform changes including the introduction of Universal Credit.
To launch the initiative four digital information events will take place at Monmouth’s Overmonnow Family Learning Centre (21st January), Chepstow Library (23rd January), Abergavenny Adult Education Centre, Abergavenny (29th January) and Caldicot Library on 30th January. All four events will run between 10am to 12noon. Residents will be able to drop in and meet with local agencies to find out about training, advice and support.
Monmouthshire’s Cabinet Member for Environment, Public Services and Housing, Giles Howard commented: “These events are a great opportunity for anyone who wants to increase their confidence with computers or get more out of the internet.”
