A partnership between libraries and publishers will allow Monmouthshire residents free access to many of the world’s finest academic papers on science, technology, medicine and other disciplines.
The unique collaboration – known as Access to Research – opens the door to over 1.5 million journal articles and conference proceedings via licenced library computers. Some of the material is available to the public for the first time.
Monmouthshire Libraries customers will be able to read a wide variety of articles in the fields of art and architecture, business, environmental science, history, journalism, health and biological sciences, social sciences, engineering, languages, politics, film, philosophy and religion, mathematics and physics.
Access to Research has been launched under the leadership of the Publishers Licensing Society, and Monmouthshire Libraries is making it available as part of a two year pilot scheme. Interest and uptake will be closely monitored to see how the service could be developed.
