Glyn Davies, Montgomeryshire’s Conservative MP yesterday morning (Tuesday) joined Tesco of Welshpool at the presentation of school equipment to primary schools local to the Welshpool area. The four schools attending this morning’s event were Gungrog School, Maesydre School, Ardwyn School and Guilsfield School. Tesco Stores Ltd have been running its Schools and Clubs Scheme since 1992, and puts great emphasis on making links with the areas served by its supermarkets.
Commenting on this mornings presentation, Glyn Davies said;
“I support with enthusiasm any initiative by the business community to connect with the local area where they are located – helping both themselves and the people who depend upon them. For many years, Tesco Stores have run schemes based on providing equipment to local schools and clubs”.
“I was very pleased to be invited to join in this event, where the supermarket are working to reach out to the people in the Welshpool. It was also great to see the children’s smiling faces – though I’m uncertain whether it was Tesco’s generosity, or a morning away from the classroom which put the beaming smiles on their faces. Whatever it was a good occasion for all concerned”.
