The latest walk in the Community Miles series has been launched in Graigfechan with help from council leader Cllr Hugh Evans, also the local member for Graigfechan and Cllr Carolyn Thomas, chair of the Joint Advisory Committee for the Clwydian Range and Dee Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
The 5.8 mile Graigfechan walk from the centre of the village links to Offa’s Dyke Path National Trail and takes in views across the Vale of Clwyd and beyond. In the past three years, seven circular routes have been introduced in communities around Denbighshire, with another two on the way.
Community Miles enhances rights of way along circular routes close to towns and villages within Denbighshire and the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, for the benefit of the local communities both in terms of a recreation and by promoting small communities and rural businesses to a wider audience. The series would not have been such a huge success without the help and support of the Community Councils and local community members.
The Graigfechan walk was developed through the Walking with Offa project. This route was delivered with funding from the rural development plan for Wales, with the help of Natural Resources Wales, Cadwyn Clwyd, The Walking with Offa Project, Welsh Government and the European Agricultural fund for Rural Development.
