More Trees will Line Cardiff’s Street

The Council will shortly be commencing a major street tree replacement planting programme.

Over 300 new trees will be planted with a particular focus within the western area of the City.

Trees including Birch, Cherry, Maple, Lime and Apple will be planted in Grangetown, Radyr, Riverside, Canton, Criegiau, Llandaff, Caerau and Ely.

It is anticipated that the programme will be completed by the end of January, weather permitting and the Council plans to accelerate it’s planting programmes in the south eastern and northern areas of the city during the next two financial years.

Executive Member for Sport, Leisure and Culture Cllr Nigel Howells said: “The replacement programme demonstrates the Council’s commitment to ensuring the vitality of the city’s street tree stock for the benefit of current and future generations’’
