The secrets of the human mind will be explored like never before when artists from around the world come together for an exciting new show at Wrexham Glyndŵr University.
Moving Minds will be held at the university’s Oriel Sycharth Gallery and asks questions which have fascinated thinkers for generations: what is the mind, what is it made of, and what is its relationship to the body and world?
It sees the coming together of cutting-edge ideas from philosophy, computing and neuroscience, alongside a whole host of artworks, activities and performances.
Over 25 artists from around the world will feature in the show, including winner of the ‘Out Spoken Award’ for Innovation in Poetry 2015 Sophie McKeand, Italian composer and sound artist Julian Scordato, and the internationally-renowned localStyle, whose short film Naming Things will receive its UK premiere.
The exhibition’s curator Mike Corcoran said: “We’re thrilled to have such a high calibre of international artists coming to North Wales. The mind has fascinated thinkers for centuries, and its study continues to captivate scientists, philosophers and all those in between to this day.
“With Moving Minds, we hope to bring the subject to life in new and creative ways. Every visitor to the exhibition should leave reflecting on their own mind, how it works, and how it takes its place in the world – we can’t wait.”
Moving Minds officially opens to the public with a launch event from 6pm-8pm on Thursday February 18, with an evening featuring performances from DATAMOSH and Lord Black Art.
The show is then open to the public, free of change, on weekdays from 9am until 4.30pm from the following day (Friday) until April 15, with activities scheduled to take place throughout.
