Wrexham MP Ian Lucas is urging people to visit a Network Rail event to find out more about a £44million rail scheme underway on the Wrexham to Chester line.
The event will be held on Tuesday, July 29 between 3pm and 7pm at Rossett and Burton Village Hall, on Station Road in Rossett.
Mr Lucas recently visited Network Rail’s Rossett compound to find out more about the work, which involves the re-dualling of a significant portion of track between Wrexham and Saltney, near Chester.
He said: “This is a major investment and a significant upgrade of a large part of the track. That means it will have an effect on people locally, although I was very impressed during my recent visit by how willing Network Rail had been to listen to people and take on their concerns. I’d urge people who have questions about any aspect of the work to call in on Tuesday and find out more.”
A long standing advocate of better rail services for Wrexham, Mr Lucas said he was very pleased that the work was underway – and that further improvements could be possible in the future.
He continued: “During my visit, it was made very clear to me that the work currently being done to upgrade much of the line will not stop further improvements taking place in the future. That means that the current, and very welcome, investment could help improve services even further in the future.”
