The Rt Hon David Jones MP, the Member of Parliament for Clwyd West, recently visited Cancer Research UK’s shop in Colwyn Bay in order to show his support for the charity’s research efforts.

David Jones said:

“Cancer is a dreadful disease, and it is one that many people will have experienced, whether directly or indirectly. Furthermore, it appears highly likely that the number of cases will only increase. However, as a result of research activity undertaken by organisations such as Cancer Research UK, our ability to treat the condition continues to improve. Nevertheless, it is clear that continued research is required. Accordingly, I am proud to support Cancer Research UK’s endeavours, and I would encourage people to do what they can in order to provide support.”

Mel Davies, Cancer Research UK’s Area Shop Manager, said:

“Every step we make towards beating cancer relies on every pound, every hour and every person, so we hope people in Wales will really get behind us. In particular, we’re always looking for new volunteers in the shop, and of course we’re always looking for people to donate more unwanted quality items.

“It’s great to have the support of David Jones MP with raising awareness, as there’s still so much more we need to do to ensure no-one’s life is cut short by cancer. But by boosting support and funding now, the best research teams will be able to develop better ways to prevent, control and cure the disease and help save many more lives.”
