Clwyd West MP, David Jones, has commended the exceptional community work of a public-spirited group of volunteers within the constituency. The Old Colwyn (East) Residents Association has been awarded the Green Flag Community Award in recognition of its outstanding work at the St John’s Community Garden.
The Association, working in partnership with Conwy County Borough Council, continues to maintain the very highest standards to achieve the award. The garden strikes and excellent balance between the needs of its visitors and the wildlife at the site.
David Jones said:
“The award is a deserved acknowledgement of the hard work and dedication which has been invested by the Association, the Council and the local community.
“The award’s judges noted that the garden will ‘make all visitors feel welcome and secure in a tranquil place. All involved in the project provide an outstanding example of the Big Society in action.’
“I congratulate everyone involved in the project, for their achievement; they set a model example for all of us to follow to follow. The project demonstrates the effectiveness of partnership and community action.”
