David Jones, MP for Clwyd West, has encouraged schools and colleges across the constituency to attend the free ‘Futures Day’ event at Farnborough International Airshow.
The one-day event offers free access to school or college groups to give young people, between the ages 11 and 21 the opportunity to explore career prospects in aerospace.
Students will be able to take part in a stimulating programme of hands-on activities, as well as meeting experts, apprentices and graduates already working in the sector and seeing some of the world’s most cutting edge commercial and defence aircraft in flight and on the ground.
David Jones said:
‘Britain has the second largest aerospace industry in the world and will continue to provide jobs and economic growth which the whole region will benefit from, including Clwyd West.
‘With industry thriving across Britain, particularly in Wales, there is greater demand than ever for skilled workers. I am pleased that we are able to support these business developments with the Government’s Industrial Strategy.
‘This event provides a fantastic opportunity for young people in North Wales’ schools and colleges who are considering their future prospects and will enable them to get an insight into the wide variety and interesting careers available in aerospace.’
Futures Day, which is organised by ADS Group, takes places on Friday 18th July and will be free to schools and colleges who register online at http://www.farnborough.com/Content/Futures-Day.
