Clwyd West MP, David Jones, has obtained a commitment from Health Board officials that the future of Ruthin Hospital is secure.
Last Friday, David Jones held discussions with Betsi Cadwaladr Health Board Chief Executive, Mary Burrows, over reports that up to 15 of the 31 beds at the hospital were to be closed over the winter months.
David Jones said:
“The Board officials confirmed that ten beds at the hospital will be mothballed over the winter months but will be reinstated in the spring; the precise date will soon be announced.
“I obtained a firm commitment from Mrs Burrows and Mr Williams that Ruthin Hospital is secure and that there is no question of closing it.
“Whilst it is unfortunate that this uncertainty has been allowed to arise in the first place, this is overall positive news and the meeting has helped to clarify the position.”
