MP Says “Football Enterprise Captures Community Spirit”

Clwyd West MP, David Jones, this week met Kelly Davies, ex-international football player and founder of VI-Ability, a social enterprise project based at Colwyn Bay Football Club in North Wales.

The VI-Ability scheme provides a means of encouraging younger people who are not in education, training or employment to gain new skills and to engage with their local community through the motivational power and inspirational setting of football.

David Jones said:

“Ms Davies is a respected international football player and academic, and she is channelling her experience, discipline and skills into the local community.

“The project has already achieved great success, with all fifteen participants on the last course going on to employment.

“This is just the sort of community enterprise that the Government is keen to encourage as part of the Big Society agenda.

“Kelly is to be congratulated for her enterprise and enthusiasm in creating a very worthwhile scheme.”
