Clwyd West MP, David Jones, today welcomed Conservative proposals for the appointment of a supermarket Ombudsman as good news for North Wales farmers.
David Jones said:
“If farmers are to be encouraged to continue producing the food we put on our tables, they must have a fair return for their investment and effort.
“However, there is presently a disparity of power between producers and the four major supermarket groups, which means that farmers have often not received fair play.
“The Ombudsman will curb abuses of power which undermine our farmers and act against the long-term interest of consumers.”
