Clwyd West MP, David Jones, on Wednesday (1 June) visited Llanarmon yn Iâl, to show support for the renovation work to the village’s historic schoolroom commissioned by the local community and carried out by Denbighshire firm, Grosvenor Construction.
The project, when completed, will provide modern community facilities for the village.
The schoolroom dates from 1777. Those involved in the restoration project have raised thousands of pounds to restore the Old School Room through local fundraising events and multiple successful funding applications. Work on the project commenced earlier this year and should be completed by July 2011.
David Jones said:
“The completed building will provide a modernised meeting point at the heart of the community.
“The project is a testament to the local community spirit and the efforts of local people to restore an historic and beautiful building to its former glory.
“The restoration has ensured that the schoolroom will continue to host important events for many years to come, with better access and facilities for the benefit of the whole community”.
