Local Welsh Assembly Member Paul Davies has warmly welcomed today’s announcement that the Klesch Group have signed an agreement to purchase the Murco oil refinery.
Commenting on the news Mr Davies said “I am delighted that this agreement has been signed to secure the future of the oil refinery. With four hundred well paid employees at the site this refinery plays a hugely significant role in the Pembrokeshire economy, and no doubt this announcement will be greeted with huge relief by the workforce. I am very pleased that Mr Klesch is reported to have said he will be keeping the refinery’s current hardworking staff and that the plant will continue to process oil.”
Mr Davies continued “A tremendous amount of work has been going on behind the scenes to secure this deal. I believe this has been a good example of both the United Kingdom and Welsh Governments working closely together with the buyers to help secure the future of the refinery and its four hundred jobs. I look forward to the refinery continuing to operate for many years to come and I wish the Klesch Group well in their acquisition.”
