Murder and Monsters in Prestatyn Library

denbighshireWorld Book Night is an annual celebration of reading and books which takes place on 23 April. Libraries across Wales are hosting book giving events and putting on special presentations.

Prestatyn Library+ has been chosen as the venue for the key regional event for Wales and as well as giving away books, they are putting on two special FREE events for families and crime fiction fans:

6pm – 7pm Join Doctor Who writer, Mark Wright (co-author of Who-ology), who will talk about the inspiration for his stories. Prizes to be won for the best dressed-up family  and children are invited to bring along a drawing or model for a new Doctor Who monster.

7.30pm    Dagger Award winning crime writers Margaret Murphy and Cath Staincliffe, members of the Murder Squad, lift the lid on a life of crime, talking about their books and taking part in a Q&A session.

Bethan Hughes, Reading Services Manager for Denbighshire Libraries commented: “World Book Night is about giving books and encouraging those who have lost the love of reading – or are yet to gain it – to pick up a book and read. Passionate volunteers give hundreds of thousands of books away in their communities to share their love of reading with people who, for whatever reason, don’t read for pleasure or own books.

“Whether you’ve signed up to be a giver, you’re the lucky recipient of a book, or you come along to our special events, you can be part of something really special and help World Book Night spread a love of reading across Wales.”
