Musically gifted senior members of Bridgend County Borough Youth Orchestra will be performing at Margam Abbey on Saturday 8 May 2010 at 7.30pm.
Featuring string and jazz orchestras, harp ensembles and wind ban, the evening will offer a varied programme ranging from an ABBA medley to the 1812 Overture.
Bridgend County Borough Council’s music service continues to thrive, with over 1,600 children learning instruments in schools each week and almost 300 attending weekly rehearsals.
Music co-ordinator Jeff Ryan said: “Many of the senior players who will be playing at Margam Abbey have attended weekly rehearsals for most of their school lives.
“Learning to play an instrument has great benefits in all aspects of life. The discipline of study and performing together develops team spirit and self esteem.
“The high standard of the more advanced ensembles is due entirely to the dedication of our members.”
Don’t miss the opportunity to listen to the musicians of the future within the picturesque and atmospheric surroundings of Margam Abbey.
Tickets are priced at £6.50 / £3 concessions and area available on the evening or by calling Jeff Ryan, Music Co-ordinator on 01656 642658 / 07961 192408 (during office hours).
