Music in Hospitals will be returning to Cardiff and Vale University Health Board for the second year running.
Music in Hospitals sets out to improve the quality of life of adults with all kinds of illness and disability in hospitals, hospices, day care centers and nursing homes through the joy and therapeutic benefits of professionally performed live music.
Robert Aitken CBE, Director, Music in Hospitals Wales said: “It is always a pleasure to work with people who value the importance of integrating the arts into healthcare, ultimately enhancing the patient experience. We hope to continue our partnership with Cardiff and Vale Health Charity for many years to come.”
Simone Joslyn, Clinical Project Lead, said: “We aim to bring music to patients in particular vulnerable adults and young people, especially those who really appreciate some distraction on wards as they are often unable to leave. Music helps boost patient and staff morale.
“It’s great to see patients and visitors enjoying themselves, tapping along to the beat of the music and getting involved in the performance.”
Concerts will take place throughout the year at St David’s Hospital, Barry Hospital, University Hospital of Wales, Whitchurch Hospital, Iorwerth Jones Centre, Rookwood Hospital and University Hospital Llandough.
