Music in Hospitals Visits Rookwood

IMG_0810Music in Hospitals helped to lift the spirits of patients and their families at Rookwood Hospital with a special performance last week.

Patients and their families were treated to a performance on 16 July by Heather Jones from Music in Hospitals, who sang and played guitar to popular songs, in both English and Welsh.

Music in Hospitals aim is to improve the quality of life for adults and children with all kinds of illness and disability through the joy and therapeutic benefits of professionally performed live music in hospitals, hospices, day care centres, special schools, nursing and residential homes.

Georgina Jones, Occupational Therapist at Rookwood said: “It was lovely to see patients sat in the day room enjoying the music. It really gave the patients something different and broke up their day.”

The Cardiff and Vale Health Charity funded the Music in Hospitals visit and the PROP appeal also provided an extra treat for patients and visitors with a special afternoon tea buffet served in the day room.

The PROP Appeal was set up in 2008 to support the regional Neurosciences Specialist Rehabilitation Unit at Rookwood Hospital.
