Jools Holland coming to Singleton Park

The setting will be pure magic, the ambience spectacular and the crowd will be jumping!

The piano maestro Jools Holland is heading to Singleton Park, Swansea on Sunday 8th August with his Rhythm & Blues Orchestra for a night of pure boogie-woogie. This is Jools’ first appearance in Swansea since 1999 and he will be on stage with his 17-piece Orchestra and special guests Alison Moyet and Ruby Turner in a concert eagerly anticipated in the area.

Keith Louch, director of IML Concerts said, “I am delighted to be presenting Jools in Swansea, it is going to be an exciting evening with some really great guests and I am certain the audience will really enjoy this tremendous show”.

Chris Bailey, event manager of IML Concerts adds, “This will be a picnic-style concert and we encourage the audience to bring their own chairs, rugs, cushions and picnics. We have set special priced tickets for children under 16 at £15 with entry for the under 5’s absolutely free, no ticket required. Over the past 11 years of organising shows around the UK, we have found a growing number of children attending these concerts and hope that the reduced prices will encourage more families to join us.”

Cllr Graham Thomas, Swansea Council’s Cabinet Member for Culture, Recreation and Tourism, said: “Attracting such a well known name is a real coup for Swansea and we are pleased that the promoter has chosen to stage this event here. Singleton Park is an ideal location for this type of event, and we look forward to welcoming residents and visitors of all ages to Swansea for this one-off performance by the legendary Jools Holland. This will provide yet another great event for the Swansea Bay Summer Festival line-up.”

The Rhythm & Blues Orchestra has evolved from the initial seeds in 1985 when Jools and his drummer Gilson Lavis began touring as a duo, into a disciplined 17-piece band capable of selling out all year all over Britain and Europe – from Canterbury Cathedral and Kew Gardens to the Glastonbury Festival – and filling the Albert Hall each Christmas in what has become an annual ritual.

Now in its 33rd series and having completed over 200 shows, Later..With Jools has become one of the top-drawer television music programmes and has assisted many bands to higher profiles. Jools has also continued to present shows on BBC Radio 2.

So grab your tickets, your friends and create a group, bring a picnic to Singleton Park and get ready to boogie-woogie with the all-round international artist, Mr Jools Holland.

Gates open at 5pm with the support artists on stage from 6.30pm. There’s even a grand firework finale to round off what promises to be a magical night out at the Singleton Park.
