North Wales Assembly Member Mark Isherwood has welcomed confirmation from Post Office Ltd, that a Flintshire village post office is to reopen next month.
Mr Isherwood, Shadow Communities Minister, was contacted by residents of Mynydd Isa after the Spar supermarket, which houses the post office, announced that it was closing.
Mr Isherwood was in communication with the Post Office at senior level in Wales accordingly and also raised the problem in the Assembly during a question to the Communities Minister on the safeguarding of post offices.
This week he has received confirmation from Post Office Ltd that the branch will reopen on June 9th.
He said:
“Having been in regular communication with Post Office Ltd over the 3rd June closure of Mynydd Isa Post Office, I welcome their confirmation that it will reopen on 9th June with a temporary Subpostmaster on the same site and with the same opening hours, products and services.
“Post Office services are vital to local communities, but unfortunately in recent years we have witnessed many communities losing these assets. I know the residents of Mynydd Isa were very unhappy about losing this essential facility, so this news will be extremely welcome in the village. However, the work must continue to find a permanent operator.”
