Two country parks in Gwynedd have been recognised as among the best green spaces in Britain by winning the national Green Flag Award.
Parc Glynllfon near Llandwrog and Parc Padarn in Llanberis, which are run by Gwynedd Council, have both won this award before in recognition for its warm welcome, and for being a clean and safe place to visit.
Councillor Roy Owen, Gwynedd Council’s Portfolio Leader with responsibility for country parks, said:
“We are very proud that Parc Padarn and Parc Glynllifon have won this award – the whole county can take pride in the fact that we have these wonderful places which offer an unique experience for Gwynedd residents and visitors alike.
“Promoting the local area’s heritage as well as conservation and caring for the natural environment plays a very important part in the parks’ work. This is reflected in this success and in the fact that the parks draw in thousands of visitors every year.
“These awards are a testament to the staff’s hard work; I would like to thank them all for their enthusiasm and dedication.”
Parks and open spaces are judged annually by a network of 600 professional individuals, the successful sites are awarded with a Green Flag.
