A series of events have been arranged in supermarkets and shopping centres across Conwy and Denbighshire to mark Food Safety Week.
The main theme of the week ‘behind closed doors’ will explore what people do in their own homes when preparing and cooking food. Food Safety Officers will be offering food safety advice, explaining safe food practices and testing shoppers on common food hygiene myths. There’ll also be giveaways and the chance to take part in a prize draw.
- Monday 6th June: Tesco, Ruthin 10am-2pm
- Tuesday 7th June: Bay View Centre, Colwyn Bay 10am-2pm
- Wednesday 8th June: Morrison’s, Rhyl 10am-2pm
- Thursday 9th June: Asda, Kinmel Bay 10am-2pm
- Friday 10th June: Sainsbury’s Rhyl 10am-2pm
Phil Rafferty, Head of Service at Conwy and Denbighshire Councils said:
“Food Safety Officers are looking forward to talking with shoppers and answering any food safety questions they may have. Many people worry about knowing if food is safe to eat by its appearance or smell, or have misconceptions on how to store, prepare and cook food, which could put them at risk of food poisoning. Just come along during National Food Safety Week and the team will be pleased to help and advise.”
The event will also promote the Food Hygiene Rating System Scheme. Both Conwy and Denbighshire Councils have signed up to this national scheme, which allows people to check food businesses online before choosing where to eat.
