National Survey Results Welcomed by Wrexham AM

Lesley_GriffithsResults of the National Survey for Wales have been published suggesting satisfaction with NHS services and schools remains high.

The report, which collects detailed information on the views and experiences of people across Wales, has been welcomed by Wrexham AM Lesley Griffiths.

Each year, over 14,000 people take part in the survey which covers a wide range of topics, primarily focused on wellbeing and satisfaction with public services.

The results are used by the Welsh Government to help make Wales a better place to live, helping the decision making process, monitoring changes over time and identifying what works well and what could improve.

The survey asks people to rate their experiences and views with zero meaning ‘extremely bad’ and ten being ‘extremely good’. The overall rating for health was 6.4, education 6.4 and transport 6.0.

Experiences of GP and hospital services were very high. 92% of people were satisfied with the care they received from their GP at their last visit and 90% were satisfied with the care they received at their last appointment at an NHS hospital.

Education also fared well with 92% of parents satisfied with the primary school their child attended and 85% were satisfied with their child’s secondary school.

There was cause for concern however regarding the personal finance section with only 48% of people saying they could keep up with their bills and commitments without any difficulties.

Local Assembly Member Lesley Griffiths said:

“The National Survey is a great opportunity for people to express their views, concerns and experiences of public services across Wales.”

“The feedback provides the Welsh Government with valuable information that can help improve current situations and shape future policies.”

“Overall there are encouraging signs and it is certainly pleasing to see people in Wales have a high level of satisfaction with the key public services they access.”
