Neath Port Talbot companies scoop regional awards

Neath Port Talbot has achieved unprecedented success at a recent award ceremony.

Building projects in Neath Port Talbot have come out top in the South Wales Regional Finals of the LABC Building Excellence Awards 2010.

The awards ceremony, hosted by television presenter Paul Thomas, was held last week in Cardiff.

Developments at Ty Twynteg, Caewern and Forest Lodge in Cwmavon have beaten off stiff competition from other buildings from Ceredigion to Monmouth including the Cities of Swansea, Cardiff and Newport to win their categories.

Paul James, Building Contractor, said,  “It has been a pleasure to work directly with Neath Port Talbot Council’s Building Control section on all our developments, and their help and practical advice on this particular project has been of great assistance to us.”

Jonathan Hale, of Hale Construction Ltd, added, “For a family business like us it is pleasing to be able to compete against the multinationals.  As a Neath Port Talbot partner company we were delighted to win two awards on the night, an achievement which is a first for these awards.”

Paul Davis, Building Control Manager at Neath Port Talbot Council, said, “It has been very rewarding to be involved with all the developments nominated and the developers have acted sympathetically in combining the needs of both planning constraints and the requirement to satisfy building regulations, resulting in a completed buildings to be proud of.

“We have always been happy to work with both winners and look forward to working with them on future developments.”
He added, “I would like to offer further congratulations to Hale Construction on their achievement of winning two categories on the night.”

Congratulating the winners, Council Leader, Ali Thomas, said, “I’m pleased to see local companies achieving such prestigious awards and I wish them all well in the finals in October.”

As winners of the South Wales Regional finals, they will now go onto represent both Neath Port Talbot and Wales at the National Finals to be held in London in October later this year.
