A new intergenerational club was launched at St James Primary School on Friday 21st February.
The intergenerational clubs have been set up to bridge the gap between the young and old people living in Caerphilly County Borough. The new St James Primary School club will allow older members of the community to interact with pupils from the school and to take part in activities every fortnight.
Visitors to the club and pupils were invited to take part in activities from 1:30pm-3:00pm. These included board games, bingo and reading which encourages multi generational participation. The club will be held on a fortnightly basis.
Cllr Rhianon Passmore, Cabinet Member for Education and Lifelong Learning, commented:
“I am pleased that yet another intergenerational club has been set up in one of the county borough’s schools. These clubs teach the children and the older people involved to respect and understand each other, despite the generation gap that separates them. I would encourage the older residents in Caerphilly to become involved in a project such as this which connects our communities.”
