Dental patients in north Cardiff will welcome a new general dental practice to the area in November.
The new practice will be based on Maes-y-Coed Road and will cover the areas of Birchgrove, Llanishen and Rhiwbina.
It follows a robust tendering process by Cardiff and Vale University Health Board to replace the dental contract which was previously covered by Rhiwbina Dental Surgery, who have since moved to private treatment.
Priority access will be given to patients who accessed treatment with Rhiwbina Dental Surgery who will receive letters in early September to notify them of how to sign up to the practice. Following this the practice will then be able to accept new patients.
The new purpose built practice will be owned and run by Drs Osian and Anna Davies who both trained at the School of Dentistry in Cardiff and have strong links to Wales. They are both committed to providing high quality dental care to the residents of central and north Cardiff.
The new facility will have lift access to the first floor and parking available on site. Specialised treatment chairs will be available to facilitate dental treatment for intermediate bariatric patients.
Osian said; “We have wanted to be able to set up our own dental practice for some time, to put into practice everything we have learnt over the years of training and working in other practices within the city.
“We want Gwena Dental Care to be a caring environment where patients feel at ease and receive the highest standards of dental care possible along with all of the support the need to live a healthy lifestyle.”
David Oliver, Primary Care Support Manager for the UHB, said; “This is an exciting partnership with Osian and Anna where we can create a brand new dental practice as one of our flagship primary care practices.
“The commitment to high quality, caring dentistry, alongside a strong understanding of the need for preventative advice and information, means that patients who choose to be part of the practice will receive the highest standards of care. Osian and Anna also have a very good knowledge of the geography and needs of the area as they have lived, trained and worked in Cardiff.”
