Residents of Rhyl have been given a new Dojo, thanks to the efforts of Police and Communities First.
South West Rhyl Community Beat Manager Stephanie Ball recently organised for the Mayor of Rhyl Glyn Pickering to officially open the new Dojo, which is based at the Communities First Building on Marsh Road in Rhyl.
The Chief Instructor Gareth Gee of the North Wales Martial Arts has invested thousands into the new Karate Dojo in the Communities First building, which is kitted out with a fully padded floor, punch bags and kick pads etc.
PC Ball together with PCSO Phil Roberts were present at the ceremony when the mayor cut the ribbon to open the building and all those present were given a demonstration on the art of karate.
PC Ball said: “As the Community Beat Manager for South West Rhyl I am pleased to see such a great new facility open and support all the work that Gareth is doing. We recommend that anyone interested should come down to the Communities First building.”
Gareth, who has over 25 years experience with North Wales Martial Arts, has the help of two instructors, Dean Fearnley and Kevin Roberts, and together they are offering incentives which help in the priorities that Communities First promote, especially engaging the community.
Anyone interested in finding out what classes are on offer at the Dojo should phone 01745 343888.
