New facelift for community hall

The Old Schoolroom in Llanarmon-yn-Ial is undergoing an extensive facelift thanks to fundraising by the local community.

Clwyd West Assembly Member Darren Millar went to meet those who had been involved in the fundraising campaign and to see progress on the renovation project on a visit last week.

The project will provide modern facilities to the Grade II Listed Old Schoolroom building which is currently used as an important community facility by locals. Renovations include an extension and a car park. The project is estimated to cost £400,000 and funds were raised by St Gammon’s Church, local community donations and fund raising events and grants. The project is expected to take 24 weeks to complete.

Speaking after the visit Darren said:

“It’s fantastic to see the progress which has been made renovating this important community facility.

Llanarmon has a great community spirit and the fundraising efforts of local residents for the Old Schoolroom project, along with the community-run Raven Inn, are clear evidence of this.

“The new facilities will enable local groups to enjoy modern facilities for a range of community activities.

“I congratulate all those involved for their efforts and wish them every success for the future.”
