New Facilities at Your Convenience in Tonypandy

There is no reason to be “caught short” in Tonypandy as the Council have installed brand new public conveniences for residents.

The new Automatic Public Convenience (APC) situated near the bus station in Tonypandy will provide users with an improved facility, which includes automatic self cleaning of the toilet, automatic floor cleaning after every use, integral wash basin and hand drier and a separate vanity and technical area.

The APC is accessible to everyone including disabled users and offers an invaluable service to visitors in the area. The facility is coin operated and costs 20p, which gives users 20 minutes use. If you are a Radar (Royal Association for Disability and Rehabilitation) key holder the facility is free of charge and operated by inserting the key, this gives key holders unlimited use of the area.

Radar keys are available free of charge (with proof of eligibility) by visiting a One4All Centre in Aberdare, Treorchy and Pontypridd.

The new facility is available for use 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and is regularly inspected by the Council Streetcare team to ensure it is maintained appropriately.

Over the last few years there has been an increase in anti-social behaviour and abuse of public conveniences and the Council urges residents to report any incidents so that they can be dealt with immediately.

Councillor Anthony Christopher, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Frontline Services, said: “The improved facilities will provide an invaluable service to residents and visitors alike and it is hoped that the local community will look after the unit or face it being removed.

“The Council urges residents to report any incidents of vandalism or inappropriate behaviour so that those selfish individuals can be dealt with.”

The Council currently provides a high number of free public conveniences in various locations across the County Borough as well as Automatic Public Convenience.
