Major construction work is due to start on the next phase of council customer service centres, this time at Connah’s Quay Library.
The latest Flintshire Connects centre will be part of the existing library on Wepre Drive and will incorporate a long awaited Heritage Centre.
Building work begins on Monday 27 January with the finished centre opening in June 2014. The Flintshire Connects programme aims to improve customer service by providing simpler and more ‘joined up’ access to council and public sector services in a modern and welcoming environment. Trained customer service advisors will deliver housing, welfare benefits advice, council tax and business rates, Streetscene and concessionary travel advice as well as blue badges and payment facilities for council services. Partner agencies such as North Wales Police will hold regular community surgeries and key council services such as housing will have a presence in the building.
The Heritage Centre will display artefacts of local interest relating to the industrial history of Connah’s Quay. Local consultation will take place to further develop the Heritage Centre.
