Starting this half term, youngsters in the Vale of Glamorgan can swim for free every weekend at their local leisure centres during specified times.
The new free swimming slots, introduced thanks to a Welsh Assembly Government initiative, will let under 16s swim for free every Saturday and Sunday at the following times:
Barry Leisure Centre: 12pm – 1pm
Penarth Leisure Centre: 1pm – 2pm
Llantwit Major Leisure Centre: 1pm – 3pm
These are in addition to the free swimming sessions that also form a key part of each centre’s half term programme, where youngsters can take to the pool without dipping into their pockets at specified times from Monday to Friday. They can also choose from a range of other free water-based activities such as snorkelling, water-polo and a rookie lifeguards course.
Other half term highlights include free running and trampolining at Cowbridge Leisure Centre, activity days and football at Llantwit Major Leisure Centre, racquet sports and gymnastics at Penarth Leisure Centre, as well as dodgeball and a Halloween soft play party at Barry Leisure Centre. Many of the activities cost just £1.
