New home for Llanberis TIC

The Llanberis Tourist Information Centre has moved home to the Electric Mountain visitor centre.

The new service opened on Monday, 2 April and will operate five days a week from Friday to Tuesday. Opening hours are 10am-4pm.

On Wednesdays and Thursdays, when the centre will be closed, telephone and email enquiries will be dealt with by staff at Caernarfon Tourist Information Centre.

This development forms part of the Council’s savings strategy. By finding different ways of working and sharing resources – rather than cutting services altogether – the Council can maintain a presence at the county’s main tourism hubs, such as Llanberis.

Sioned Williams, Gwynedd Council’s Head of Economy and Community Services, said: “Following a successful pilot scheme in Bangor and Tywyn, where the TICs worked with other local facilities, it has now been agreed to work in partnership with the Electric Mountain visitor centre and we are delighted that the new information centre has been open for the Easter holiday.

“This new service is one example of how we are changing services to reflect a shift in consumer habits. For instance, the number of people visiting traditional TICs is down by 45% and more people are using the Visit Snowdonia website and social media pages to find out about things to see and do in Gwynedd.”
