Cardiff cemetery staff will be participating in Tree O’clock by planting 30 Rowan trees at Cathays Cemetery, Fairoak Road this weekend.
As part of national tree week, Tree O’Clock is a world record attempt to plant the most trees in one hour from 11am -12noon on Saturday, December 5. The aim is to break the Guinness World RecordTM for the most trees planted in one hour in multiple locations simultaneously.
An unlimited number of people and sites can participate in this record and the current record holder planted 653,143 in one hour.
As well as breaking a World Record, it is also hoped that Tree O’Clock will help people understand just how important
trees are for wildlife and the environment and how everyone can make a difference.
The Friends of Cathays Cemetery Group will be leading the event and also assisting with the tree planting. Members of the public are invited to come along and lend their support.
